The Belize Diabetes Association (BDA) is a NGO which was established in 1991 by a group of professionals, primarily Doctors. The Association was established at that time due to an increase in the number of person being diagnosed with diabetes.
" A situation which still exists".
The Corozal Branch was established on November 14, 2017; which is observed as World Diabetes Day.
We are an education and resource center. We do not give medical advice. You are referred to your doctor or the Corozal Community Hospital.
Our Main Focus
To educate and advise persons living with diabetes on the proper management and control of their diabetes. To provide quality, updated and relevant information on diabetes to persons affected and afflicted with the condition. To advocate on behalf of persons living with diabetes with medical facilities and or the Government of Belize. To provide monitors, strips, lancets, among other diabetes supplies at an economical cost to persons living with diabetes.
Mission
To provide the Corozal District with enhanced education on diabetes, focusing on awareness and prevention while supporting and educating those who are living in the community with diabetes.
Vision
To be a national model contributing to the quality of life for both diabetics and non-diabetics, by facilitating resources, education and support to those living with diabetes.
